Some ideas are too fragile to survive five open apps and a flood of notifications.
Here I am, writing again.
Once a week.
Even though I once thought I’d be writing several times a day.
But hey – once is still better than never.
This past week, I picked up a book called Instabrain (yeah, that’s the vibe).
It’s all about how distracted we’ve become. And damn – it hit hard.
I realized I’ve been hopping from app to app like a caffeinated squirrel.
And honestly, it’s exhausting.
Sometimes, one single notebook would do.
Or better yet – just paper and a pen.
So I started trying it.
Writing on actual paper. No screen, no pings, no “update available.”
And guess what? My thoughts actually stayed in my head longer than three seconds.
iPad? Nah.
It always opens to something I didn’t want to see – old emails, unfinished tasks, stress in digital form.
And when I finally close everything?
I spend another ten minutes figuring out which app to use to take a damn note.
It’s all just… too much.
We overcomplicate everything.
Sure, digital tools can be great. One tablet instead of five notebooks, sure.
But the cost? A brain that’s constantly on edge.
I’ve also been taking weekends off work lately. Total break.
No emails, no Slack, no nonsense.
Surprisingly, the world kept turning.
Money’s alright, summer’s not looking stressful – and I even got a nice tan in the garden.
Planning to go camping with my daughter on Thursday.
Honestly can’t wait. Not sure how it’ll go, but that’s the fun part.
Oh and yeah – my scooter arrived.
Big sale, huge discount. But… turns out it sucks. Weak, lazy, just meh.
Got my eye on a yellow beast now. Pricey, but maybe worth it for the peace of mind (and fewer regrets).
Final thought?
Multitasking is a modern myth.
Two monitors, endless tabs, and no clue where your notes went.
Digital life promised clarity – but gave us noise.
One question for you:
When’s the last time you wrote something by hand – without a single notification?
